Hyderabad: In its efforts to boost SCs, STs and deprived classes and to bring them into the mainstream, the Telangana government on Friday appointed Rasamayi Balakishan, a Dalit MLA from Manakondur constituency and folk artiste, as chairman of the ‘Telangana Sanskritika Sarathi.’

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has signed the related file. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister noted that it was time to elevate the artistes who actively participated in Telangana movement to play a key role in rebuilding Telangana State in terms of giving boost to culture and tradition.

He directed that the Telangana State Cultural Department’s office located at Jubilee Hills should be used for the purpose. A massive publicity campaign will be taken up on the ambitious programmes of lakes restoration, Haritha Haram and Water Grid, he said. The Chief Minister also said that 500 teams of artistes would take up an extended mode of publicity in all districts.
