Nizamabad: Though the Crime Investigation Department (CID) completed investigation into Indiramma Housing project scam four months ago, its reports has not so far seen the light of the day.

The CID police swung into action after Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao ordered investigation into the scandal in the project across Telangana State. The CID undertook the investigation by taking 2,11,290 houses built under the project as samples.

As far as the district is concerned, reports indicated that not less than Rs 42.50 crore was embezzled. The government had initially got the investigation carried out by a experts and then ordered the CID probe. The experts carried out inspections in 90 villages in the first phase and as many villages in the second phase.

The CID teams carried out investigation into the scam basing on the list of beneficiaries in Nizamabad, Adilabad, Karimnagar and Warangal districts. Though the investigation was completed, the report had not been made public so far.

The government has drawn a veil over the role of some of Mandal Development Officers and Tahsildars, besides officials of the Housing Corporation.

There are reports that not less than Rs 53.77 lakh was appropriated by creating fake records to show that houses were built on the outskirts. Though an official was dismissed as far back as 2005, holding him guilty for dereliction of duty in preventing withdrawal money deposited in the accounts of beneficiaries.

The CID police carried out door-to-door investigation and found that funds to the tune of Rs 44.65 lakh were embezzled at Kothapally under Kotagiri mandal. But no action was taken against anyone so far.
