Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Dr T Rajaiah on Sunday visited Gandhi Hospital and interacted with the patients on medical facilities being provided to them by the hospital.

Speaking to media persons later, Dr Rajaiah said the State government was making all efforts to turn Gandhi Hospital one of the best hospitals in the country. He pointed out that the government had sanctioned Rs 100 crore for the upgrading of Gandhi Hospital and assured that the patients would be provided the best facilities. He said the shortage of staff would be addressed after the completion of process of bifurcation of employees.

While directing the hospital staff to be friendly with the patients, Dr Rajaiah warned of stern action against any kind of corruption in public hospitals.

Meanwhile, Rogi Sahaytha Trust, an NGO that extends service to patients in six hospitals in Hyderabad has organised a cleanliness drive at Osmania General Hospital on Sunday. Over 200 NCC cadets, along with the members of the trust, cleaned the entire open area near old mortuary which was converted into a urinal by passersby.

Taking part in the programme, Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mahmood Ali encouraged the cadets and participants and emphasised the need of cleanliness.

He said treatment at government hospitals was better than private hospitals but cleanliness was a major reason for patients to choose corporate hospitals.
