Telangana IT policy to be investor-friendly
Targeting to achieve Rs 1.25 lakh crore software exports, the Telangana government would unveil its ‘IT policy 2015-16’ in the third week of December, said IT minister K T Rama Rao.

Hyderabad: Targeting to achieve Rs 1.25 lakh crore software exports, the Telangana government would unveil its ‘IT policy 2015-16’ in the third week of December, said IT minister K T Rama Rao.
Speaking to newsmen here on Sunday, Rama Rao said the new policy would give more thrust to creation of employment and the establishment of IT companies in tier-II cities. The Government targets to create 20 lakh direct and indirect employment opportunities under the policy, he said.
According to the minister, IT sector had registered 16 per cent growth this year and the government would ensure the growth trend to surge ahead by taking several measures, including making Hyderabad an attractive destination for investments. Besides, the new policy would provide sops to the companies which come forward to set up Research and Development units in Telangana. He hoped the blue chip companies like Google, WhatsApp and Facebook would set up their R& D units.
The ambitious programme to bring Hyderabad under ‘Wi-Fi’ network would be included in the policy. The other IT development programmes – TASK (Telangana Academy of Skills and Knowledge) and T-Hub would be created to develop skills and promote entrepreneurship in the new state, he said.
Stating that the suggestions made by the IT industry are being given upmost priority in the preparation of the IT policy, he said the new policy would be on the lines of the new Industrial policy, announced recently by the government, which introduced single window mechanism to give faster clearances for the project proposals.
Earlier, the minister held a meeting with IT Secretary Harpreet Singh and other officials to finalise the modalities of the new IT policy.
