Cong activists celebrate Sonia’s 68th birthday across State

All India Congress Committee president Sonia Gandhi’s 68th birthday was celebrated on Tuesday across the district in a grand manner while praising her role in the formation of separate state for Telangana. The party leaders cut a cake at Congress Bhavan in Hanamkonda and conducted ‘Palabhishekam’ to the portrait of Sonia Gandhi.

Warangal: All India Congress Committee president Sonia Gandhi’s 68th birthday was celebrated on Tuesday across the district in a grand manner while praising her role in the formation of separate state for Telangana. The party leaders cut a cake at Congress Bhavan in Hanamkonda and conducted ‘Palabhishekam’ to the portrait of Sonia Gandhi. Later, the party district president N Rajender Reddy hoisted the party flag.

A blood donation camp was organised where former Mayor Errabelli Swarna and TPCC secretary Dr Hari Rama Devi donated blood and a ‘Prachara Radham’ was flagged off. Speaking on the occasion, former Minister B Saraiah, former MP S Rajaiah and party district president Rajender Reddy spoke.

Former district Congress president and Narsampet MLA D Madhava Reddy, who rejoined the party after meeting national leaders in New Delhi a month ago, was formally welcomed into the party by the leaders on the day. City Congress president T Vidyasagar, DCCB chairman J Raghava Reddy, former MLAs G Vijayarama Rao, K Sridhar and B Arogyam, TPCC district in-charge R Jaya Prakash, its media convener E V Srinivas Rao, secretaries B Prabhakar Reddy, K Srinivas and K Srikar, district Congress spokespersons N Srinivas, Amrutha Rao and others were present.

B Saraiah inaugurated a blood donation camp at MGM Hospital held under the aegis of Youth Congress leader B Sriman and spoke at a programme organised by city Congress minority cell president Md Ayub. Addressing the gathering, he called upon the public to celebrate Sonia Gandhi’s birthday like they celebrated festivals like Dasara, Deepavali, Ramzan and Christmas to commemorate her valuable contribution.

Jagtial (Karimnagar): The Congress workers hoisted the party flag at Sonia Gandhi’s temple at Malyala mandal headquarters on Tuesday. Mancherial (Adilabad): The Congress activists hailed All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Sonia Gandhi as a leader who was instrumental in creation of a separate State of Telangana.

The Congress activists also provided lunch to the students on the occasion. Tandur: The credit for ushering in Telangana State goes to AICC president Sonia Gandhi as wished by the people despite opposition by other parties, said Medak DCCB chairman Laxma Reddy here on Tuesday.

He was speaking at Sonia’s 68th birthday celebrations at Jayaram Thanda in Peddamul mandal. Floor leader in Tandur Municipality Sumathi Sampath was present. Minister ‘gheraoed’ ABVP activists ‘gheraoed’ Minister Mahender Reddy here on Tuesday demanding release of pending fee reimbursement amounts. They stopped Reddy when he came to the Tandur mandal office to launch some development schemes.

The Minister assured the activists that he would take the issue to the notice of Chief Minister KCR and Education Minister G Jagadish Reddy and strive to solve the problem. Telugu Desam membership drive Seri Lingampally Telugu Desam MLA Ankipudi Gandhi on Tuesday inaugurated the party’s membership drive in the town.

Zaheerabad: AICC president Sonia Gandhi’s 68th birthday was celebrated in the town party office, here, as suggested by former Minister and district leader Dr J Geetha Reddy. A cake was cut in the office. The birthday celebrations were organised in the 14 wards of the town as also in villages of the mandal.

Addressing the gathering in the office, Town Congress president Kandem Narasimhulu recalled that the Telangana was announced on Sonia Gandhi’s birthday. Narasimhulu observed that strangely the TRS leadership with only two MPs was boasting of bringing Telangana.

He said the credit for passing the T Bill in Parliament should go to Sonia Gandhi. He described as ‘unfortunate’ the TRS bid to defame the AICC chief. Former Municipal chairman M Subhash, MPP Chiranjeevi Prasad, Zaheerabad mandal Congress president Srinivas Reddy, councillors Tahera Begum, Jahangir, Mypal Reddy, Shekhar, Nagesh, Punyamma, Kasinath, Arun Kumar, Youth Congress leader Jaffar, NSUI leader Harsha Kumar and MPTC Nagishetty Gopal were present.
