Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao expressed confidence that Hyderabad would soon emerge as the ‘health hub’ of the country what with good medical facilities, state-of-the-art hospitals and specialist doctors available here.

Speaking after the inauguration of Star Hospital’s Institute of Neuro Sciences and Centre for Joint Replacement at Banjara Hills on Thursday morning, the Chief Minister called upon doctors and medical practitioners to strive hard in providing the much needed health care to people at affordable charges and ensure that Hyderabad would emerge as the ‘health hub’ of the country.

Chandrashekar Rao recalled that during his visits to many hospitals in the city, he had noticed that patients from many parts of the globe getting treated here. One of the reasons for this was that the required medical facilities were available here apart from the fact that the city was known for its cosmopolitan culture and ethics, he said.

“As a matter of fact, Hyderabad has earned a good name for 350 years for its cosmopolitan culture and affectionate society. Nowhere in India one can find Gujarathi Lanes, Sindhi Colony, Parsi Gutta etc. except in Hyderabad,” he observed.

The Chief Minister further reminded that excellent atmosphere due to its geographical location, affectionate and friendly people and availability of everything has turned the city as a homely place. “Many IAS and IPS officers and High Court judges who had worked here have settled down in the city after retirement.

It has even earned the name as a good Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR). There is no doubt that Hyderabad will grow and develop as a global city,” he said. Chandrashekhar Rao expressed happiness that Star Hospital had grown from a 70-bedded hospital to a 350-bed specialty hospital with the addition of Institute of Neuro Sciences and Centre for Joint Replacement.

With over 70 specialists and another 50 joining soon, he hoped that Star Hospitals would emerge as a shining star in providing the needed health care to the people in the city. Deputy Chief Minister Rajaiah, who is also in charge of Health and Medical portfolio in the Cabinet, Forest Minister Jogu Ramaiah, Dr Narasaiah Goud and others were present at the function. (NSS)
