Warangal: The younger generation has made social media a successful forum for expressing views and sharing opinions in the country, noted BJP national general secretary P Muralidhar Rao. The 65 per cent of population in the country was below 35 years of age and that youth force has also lent support to success of social media. It would soon bring revolutionary changes in the days to come.

The youth, who were using social media, would be posing questions related to employment, education, development, housing and the governments should be ready to answer them, he pointed out. Speaking at a workshop on ‘social media–empowerment of the people’, organised by Bharat Niti Samvad in Hanamkonda on Saturday, Muralidhar Rao said ‘social media is a powerful tool in the hands of public and it should be put to positive use’.

Unlike traditional media, the social media provided the chance to share their opinion to everyone in the society and emerging as a ‘vehicle of change’. The social media has also been complimenting the conventional media in many ways, he said. Addressing the gathering, senior journalist G Srinivasa Rao felt that the impact of social media could be gauged well by the success of ‘Jasmine revolution’ .
