With a very few auspicious days left until Pongal festival, Jupally took a sudden decision to assume charge at 12.15 pm on Thursday. The Minister got to know about the allotment of Chamber 251 in D-Block around 9 am after which he consulted priests and took an instant decision to assume office.

Speaking to newsmen later, he thanked Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for reposing faith in him and entrusting the key industry department to him. He promised to work with the same zeal and commitment in his new responsibility similar to the spirit shown during the statehood movement.

Helping out weavers and sugarcane farmers besides encouraging food processing and packaging as well as encouraging farmers to grow commercial crops in place of conventional crops so that MSP was guaranteed were some of his main priorities, Jupally added. Replying to a query about absence of women members in the Telangana Cabinet, he said that many took up posts in the past but nothing had been achieved.

The Minister stated that women members of not only the ruling party but also the Opposition would be engaged in law making exercise.
