Khammam: District Collector Dr K Ilambarithi said on Tuesday that compensation to the displaced of proposed thermal power plant at Manuguru would be paid through online. He has participated in a Resettlement and Rehabilitation (R&R) committee meeting at his chambers in the Collectorate in which Pinapaka MLA Payam Venkateswarlu, ZP chairperson G Kavitha and Joint Collector K Surendra Mohan took part.

In the meeting, unanimous resolution was passed for allocation of 40 acre land belonging to Sitaramapuram village to TSGenco. R&R committee also passed a resolution to pay Rs 1.97 crore to 44 displaced persons with the allocation of land at Sitaramapuram.

Speaking on the occasion, Ilambarithi said that the state government would set up 1080 mega watt thermal power plant by acquiring lands from Ramanujavaram village in Manuguru mandal, Sitaramapuram village in Pinapaka mandal and government assigned lands. He informed officials that the Chief Commissioner of Land Administration had issued orders for allocation of lands to TSGenco based on the latter’s request. “State government has sanctioned Rs 50 crore to the district for distribution of compensation to the displaced,” he added.

District Collector said that R&R package was implemented for Sitaramapuram village in the first phase. According to new R&R package, jobs would be given to the displaced persons based on their educational qualifications and Rs 5 lakh as compensation. However, Ilambarithi pointed out that he cannot give assurance of providing jobs to all displaced persons. “There is a possibility of providing jobs to 200 displaced people,” he added.

K Surendra Mohan stated that several persons among displaced did not pass SSC exam. “Efforts would be made to enroll them in open schooling system so that they can study and clear SSC exam,” he said.
