Hyderabad: The most important and major festival of the Sikh Community across the world, the birth anniversary celebrations of Sri Guru Gobind Singhji, the 10th and last Sikh Guru and founder of Khalsa Panth, will be celebrated in Telangana from Dec 26 to 28.

In this connection, Central Gurudwara Saheb Gowliguda Prabhandak Committee president S Tirlok Singh informed that a mass "Nagar Keertan'' (Holy Procession) would be taken out on a grand scale on December 26 at around 4.30 pm from Central Gurudwara Saheb, Gowliguda and would pass through Gurdwara Guru Singh Sabha, Guru Nanak Marg, Ashok Bazar, Afzalgunj, Siddiamber Bazar, M J Market, Jambagh, Putlibowli and return back to Gurudwara Sahib in the evening. Over 20,000 devotees are likely to take part in the procession. Guru Granth Sahebji (the revered Holy Scripture of the Sikhs) would be carried on a beautifully decorated vehicle along with “Nishaan Sahebans” (Religious Flags).

The procession would be marked by the rendering of Shabad Keertans (Holy Hymns) by the Jatha Tera Jatha and Keerthani Jathas of men, women and youths.

The major attraction of the procession would be the display of “Gatka”, a famous Sikh martial art form and other breathtaking sword exercises all along the procession by Dashmesh Kalgidhar Jatha and other special Gatka parties will also exhibit their Gatka skills. As the main birthday celebrations of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji falls on December 28, a “Vishaal Deewan” will be held at Central Gurdwara Saheb, Gowliguda from 10 am to 4 pm on the day, where over 30,000 Sikh devotees and other community faiths will converge at the programme.

After the culmination of the congregation, Guru Ka Langar (free community kitchen) will be served to the devotees. On December 27, "Amrit Sanchaar'' (Holy Baptism) will be organised on the Gurdwara premises at 11 am. Interested persons can enroll their names with Gurdwara Head Granthi. (INN)
