BJP, TRS let people down, says Ponnala, Ponnala announced that the Congress would strive hard to expose the failures of both BJP-led Union government and the TRS government in Telangana.

Hyderabad: The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Ponnala Lakshmaiah alleged that both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) had disappointed the common people who voted them into power in the last general elections.

Ponnala announced that the Congress would strive hard to expose the failures of both BJP-led Union government and the TRS government in Telangana.

Speaking after hoisting the party flag on the occasion of 130th Congress Formation Day at Gandhi Bhavan here on Sunday, he said the Congress had always served the people, irrespective of whether or not it was in power or not. He said the Congress had accepted the people’s verdict in last elections and had been playing the role of a constructive Opposition. However, the ruling BJP and TRS had failed to perform up to the expectations of people and misled them, he alleged.

The TPCC chief claimed that it was the then Congress Government which granted statehood for Telangana. However, the TRS came to power after exploiting the people's sentiments and now the entire government has been turned into a family affair.

He asked the party workers to expose the failuares of Central and State Governments and stay in touch with the people to understand their problems. CLP leaders K Jana Reddy and D Srinivas, APYC President and MLC K Vamshichander, Rajya Sabha MP V Hanumanth Rao, MLA DK Aruna, MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, TPCC Seva Dal president T Janardhan Reddy and others leaders were also present.
