Khammam: Village Organisation Assistants (VOAs) working under the Indira Kranthi Patham (IKP) scheme launched 48-hour Maha Dharna near the Collectorate here on Monday demanding the state government to clear 18-month pending salaries. They launched maha dharna under the banner of Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU).

Speaking on the occasion, CITU leader Dhana Lakshmi alleged that the TRS government did not provide interest-free loan up to Rs 10 lakh to DWCRA groups. Instead it stopped paying interest for 12 months on the loans taken by them, she deplored.

CITU leader has slammed the State government for collecting 14 per cent interest on the loans taken from Sthree Nidhi bank when it had promised to provide interest-free loans. She flayed the Telangana government for not extending ‘Abhaya Hastham’, pension scheme to DWCRA members when previous State government had implemented it. Dhana Lakshmi found fault with the TRS government for trying to dilute DWCRA groups.
