Luxettipet (Adilabad): Hundreds of villages were inundated and electric poles and trees uprooted in the incessant thunder showers that lashed Dandepalli mandal in the district on Saturday. The uprooted trees piled up on the Luxettipet-Basara highway near Nelki Venkatapur, disrupting the vehicular traffic well past midnight.

The unseasonal rains destroyed the paddy crops. The rooftops of houses were blown away in the villages of Dandepalli, hanimadugu, Nelki Venkatapur and Narsapur due to the strong gales that lashed the villages. The people of the villages were put to lot of loss and inconvenience as food grains were drenched.

All the villages plunged into darkness as electric poles were uprooted. Speaking to the media here on Saturday, two farmers Latchanna of Nelki Venkatapuram and Ramaswamy of Dandepalli urged the government to come to their rescue.

Incessant rain in Karimnagar

Karimnagar: Normal life was thrown out of gear in Karimnagar district on Saturday, with incessant rain lashing since Friday night under the impact of the depression in the Bay of Bengal. Strong gales hit Sircilla, Mustabad, Gambhirraopeta and Yellareddypet mandals.

Low-lying areas in major towns were submerged due to rain. In Karimnagar traffic was disrupted as roads were inundated. Intensity of the cold was reduced due to rain. People were confined to homes because of the cold weather.
