Hyderabad: Government departments are leaving no stone unturned to fall into the good books of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. Apart from following numerology, they are even ensuring that the customary pink color of the ruling party is reflected in schemes implemented by them.
In their latest act, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has chosen pink colour in place of green for the bio-toilets installed on different roads in twin-cities. The GHMC has taken up the work of painting them pink on fast track mode and have installed the pink colour bio-toilets in and around Secretariat and on the Tank Bund road. Around hundred new bio-toilets sporting this new colour will soon be spotted in Jubilee hills, Banjara hills, Yousufguda, Sanathnagar, Khaatabad and other areas.
The decision to choose pink assumes importance with civic body elections and Sanathnagar by-election likely in the first half of this year. Even the recently launched Metro Luxury Volvo buses which it got under JNNURM by the TSRTC have a prominent pink border lining. It is said that in the near future all the state-owned RTC buses will be having a pink touch.
The GHMC appears to have been bitten by numerology. Take the case of the novel Driver- cum-Owner scheme initiative of the civic body. It distributed 105 brand new cars in first phase in August and 303 more in last week of December. In the third phase, GHMC plans to distribute 600 more cars to beneficiaries. Interestingly, number of cars given (105 and 303) or to be given (600) fulfills KCR’s lucky number sentiment.
