Karimnagar: Commuting on the roads in the district has become extremely difficult for the people due to the bad condition of roads. They shudder to undertake a journey. As the roads are dug up for laying underground pipelines, their condition has become horrible. People find it hard to drive the vehicles on the congested roads. Traffic snarls are ubiquitous. Even the vehicles get damaged and are prone to frequent repairs. Even the fast growth of vehicles is adding to the problem. All the important streets and highways in the Karimnagar city area have been dug up with poclains and mounds of earth are seen everywhere. The underground drainage works which began in 2008 still remained pending even after six years. They were undertaken at an estimated cost of Rs 74 crore. From that time onwards, movement of vehicular traffic has become slow and difficult. Works relating to the laying of pipelines still remained incomplete and there is no guarantee that they are of good quality. At some places, pipelines are not connected. In some areas, digging is being done on the roads twice due to the negligence of the officials and contractors.
