Bhadrachalam (Khammam): The Adivasi Vidyarthi Sankshema Parishad (AVSP) staged a protest here on Sunday, demanding unconditional apology by Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy for praising the Nizam, thereby denigrating tribal leader Komaram Bheem.

Kunja Sreenu, State convener of AVSP, a front organisation of the Adivasi Sankshema Parishad, criticised the Minister for giving a clean chit to the Nizam, saying that the Nizam was not responsible for Bheem’s death.

"It's unfortunate to see TRS leaders praising the Nizam," he said, recalling Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao's statement that Bheem's life would remain an inspiration for everyone who fights suppression and injustice.
Parishad State coordinator Madivi Nehru said praising the Nizam was nothing but belittling Bheem.

"This may be the TRS' ploy to attract Muslim votes in Hyderabad ahead of GHMC elections, but it was hurting the sentiments of Adivasis," Nehru said, threatening to intensify the agitation if TRS leaders failed to apologise to tribals.

Narasimha Reddy gave 99 per cent marks to the Nizam while responding to the Opposition criticism of KCR's praise of him during the inauguration of 'Numaish' in Hyderabad.

Later, AVSP activists burnt the Minister’s effigy. Adivasi Teachers’ Association AP general secretary K Sekhar and leader Soyam Kamaraju were present.
