Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said the government would construct G+1 houses to all the eligible people living in the slums in Warangal city adding that each house would consist of two bedrooms, one hall, one kitchen and two toilets.
He has inspected several slums including Lakshmipuram, Bhaghat Singh Nagar, Sakaraikunta and Girmajipet under Warangal East Assembly constituency on Thursday. He also interacted with the locals and inquired whether the eligible persons were receiving the pensions and other benefits from the government.
Expressing concern over the poor sanitation conditions prevailing at Lakshmipuram area, the CM expressed anger over municipal commissioner GS Panda Das and asked him to take immediate steps for the improvement of the basic facilities.
The CM has also reportedly directed the commissioner to take steps for issuing pensions to a widow, Vunni Lakshmi (36), and a physically challenged woman, Bhagyamma, at the earliest.
Later, addressing the slum dwellers at Lakshmipuram, he said his government would strive hard to see that the slum dwellers will live with self- respect.
“Many of your houses are in a dilapidated condition and some of them had already collapsed. You are living in deplorable conditions. However, we would construct a house in G+1 model for you. The work would begin soon,” the CM said and added that the officials will begin the process through a door to door survey from Friday itself.
Stating that the process of the selecting the beneficiaries would begin soon, he appealed the local educated youth and elders to form a committee to help the officials and see that all the eligible would get houses.
