Hyderabad: Telangana Home Minister Naini Narsimha Reddy launched Integrated e-Challan System for Hyderabad and Cyberabad Police at Cyberabad Commissionerate on Thursday. He promised to extend the system to the entire State in the coming months.

For the first time in the country, this system gives two commisisonerates to have common platform, where all types of violations are integrated into one single system. The system enables the traffic police to effectively penalise offenders, track repeat offenders, determine offence patters, analyse various types of violations, track performance of the police officials and reduce violations through enforcement and education. The payment of challan under both commissionerates would be directly linked to treasury account of State.

The Minister termed this as an example of coordination between higher officials in the police department. He felt that if this kind of maturity was shown at all levels by officials, then the new State of Telangana would achieve its objectives. However, he asked the officials to make public aware of the new system, so that they would be more cautious about traffic rules.

Later, the Minister also launched Apps, Telangana State Police e-Challan and ‘Traffic Buddy’. While e-Challan App will give information on violations and provide option of payment through mobile, the ‘Traffic Buddy’ provides regular traffic alerts to citizens on their mobiles.

The Integrated e-Challan project was jointly initiated by both the Commissionerates, who appointed ASCI (Administrative Staff College of India) as a single nodal agency for both technology and project management. ASCI will also provide technology assistance and monitor the project progress throughout its life cycle. While Mother Technologies Project Ventures is the technology partner for implementing the solution, the transaction partner for payments is ICICI and the connectivity partner is Airtel.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner M Mahender Reddy hoped that the new system would bring a change in the behaviour amongst the citizens, as civilization is reflected on roads. Cyberabad Commissioner C V Anand stressed on the need for extending the system to State level in the coming months.
