Hyderabad: Hundreds of students held a protest on Friday at the State Secretariat and camp office of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao demanding immediate payment of scholarships and fee reimbursement. Nearly 200 students, associated with the All India Students Federation (AISF), demonstrated in front of the State Secretariat. They alleged that the State government had completely neglected the welfare of students’ community.

Besides delay in release of scholarships, lakhs of students have been facing problems due to lack of clarity on Financial Assistance for Students of Telangana (FAST) scheme. They alleged that the State government did not issue guidelines for FAST and for the same reason the scheme was rejected by the High Court. The Hyderabad City Police took some AISF activists into custody when they tried to barge into the Secretariat.
