Karimnagar: Minister for Finance and Civil Supplies Eatala Rajender has said the government will give top priority to people’s welfare and ensure that the fruits of development reach the poor. Inaugurating the sports and cultural programmes of TNGOs at local circus grounds here on Saturday, he said the people of Telangana State had high expectations from the government. It was the duty of Ministers and officials to work with sincerity and commitment without any discrimination. They should bring a good name to the government.

The Minister said the genuine beneficiaries should not be deprived of their ration cards and pensions. He clarified that the government had not imposed any restrictions on sanction of social welfare schemes. Earlier, there were 9.71 lakh ration cards in the district. This year they had gone up to 10.30 lakh.

Karimnagar Zilla Parishad Chairperson Eatala Uma urged the employees to take part in sports to keep them fit. Games help in releasing stress and keeping people healthy, she said Collector M Veera Brahmaiah said all 40,000 government employees in the district should work efficiently with sportsman’s spirit, keeping in view the people’s aspirations. TNGOs president Devi Prasad said the employees should work hard for developing Telangana without bothering about the hours they put in. Karimnagar Mayor Sardar Ravinder Singh, Khammam TNGOs president Rangarajan, district TNGOs president Hamid were present.
