Nearly four lakh skilled labourers from Telangana working in Surat and Bhiwandi were ready to come back if the textile industry comes up here, he said.

In addition to that it was also being planned to shift IT companies from Hyderabad to Warangal. The Warangal city, second biggest after Hyderabad in Telangana, would witness a spurt of development and population growth and the government was getting ready to meet the developmental needs of the future generation, the Chief Minister said. In the days to come, population within Warangal Municipal Corporation would reach 20 lakh.

Under the programme ‘Plan our Warangal,’ efforts would be made to establish well designed vegetable, fruit, meat and fish markets. Proper housing facility would be provided for poor currently residing in slums and playgrounds would be developed. Planting of saplings would be taken up at different places. Summing up his four-day tour in the district, the Chief Minister informed the press persons at the residence of senior TRS leader V Lakshmikantha Rao here on Sunday that he instructed District Collector G Kishan to furnish the details of litigation-free government lands.

The officials and public representatives should work out how such lands could be utilised to create public facilities. The work should be done speedily. Dull pace of progress in this connection was not desirable. All the slums would witness quality housing with ground plus one structure with required infrastructure.

Referring to the reports over opposition by some residents over ground plus one house, the Chief Minister said, “Where the residents do not agree for it they would not get the benefit, and the works would be stopped.” Shifting of existing Central Jail and Auto Nagar to outskirts, construction of modern buildings for Health University and upgradation of MGM Hospital and widening of several roads to 150 feet were also among the plans for Warangal development.

In Warangal district, it was targeted to bring nearly 10 lakh acres under cultivation by providing irrigation facilities. The government would focus on completion of pending irrigation projects like Kanthanpalli and Devadula, laying of canals from Jurala to Pakhala. The Chief Minister sanctioned Rs 35 lakh for the Warangal Press Club building and directed the Collector to clear the pending file related to allocation of land to journalists housing society. Chandrashekar Rao said, “I will come to Warangal after 10 days once again to inspect the progress of housing in slums and discuss other development proposals.”
