The idea behind organising this three-day meeting is to see that the internal bickering within the party comes to an end and the party becomes politically active in the state, more so in view of the ensuing GHMC and local body elections in Warangal district. The Congress high command which is vexed with the party leaders making a beeline to Delhi – some even demanding change in leadership of the party.

Seniors feel that the junior leaders were trying to sideline them and grab party posts. According to one such leader, they even feel that the high command is also encouraging the junior leaders and ignoring them. Many leaders like Bhatti Vikramarka, DK Aruna, Uttam Kumar Reddy, Sunitha Laxma Reddy and G Chinna Reddy had been making frequent visits to New Delhi and lobbying for important posts in the state unit.

A senior most leader on a condition of anonymity told The Hans India that upset over this development, senior leaders like K Jana Reddy, J Geeta Reddy, Nandi Yellaiah and others met at the house of former PCC president D Srinivas and discussed the strategy to be adopted at the meeting. They feel that the high command should consult them before taking any decision on the revamp of the party in the new state.
