Hyderabad: Stating that no works have been started at the Kalwakurthy Lift Irrigation Project in Mahabubnagar, BJP leader and former minister Nagam Janardhan Reddy has threatened to go on indefinite hunger strike from January 17, if works were not started immediately.

Speaking to media here on Tuesday, Nagam informed that he visited the Kalwakurthy Lift Irrigation Project to verify the claims made by Energy Minister C Laxma Reddy who stated that works on the project have started from January 5. Accusing the Minister of giving a false statement, Reddy said no works have been started till date and added he would take an all-party delegation to the project site and undertake an indefinite hunger strike from January 17.

He said he had also written a letter to Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao in this regard. He alleged that KCR was not serious about development of Telangana State. He said KCR was blaming AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu or the Centre to cover up his failures.
