Khammam: It appears that the district administration is racing against time to be ready with all pertinent data ahead of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's visit to Khammam to make sure that there would be no repeat of embarrassment like in Warangal where the Chief Minister was flooded with complaints.

It may be recalled that Chandrashekar Rao's visit to Warangal on a short notice caught the district officials napping. It also revealed the lacuna in the implementation of Aasara and food security schemes. Although it was not confirmed officially, the CM would surely stay for a couple of days in the district before or after the Republic Day and review the developmental activities, especially on food security and Aasara schemes.

To expedite the implementation of these schemes, District Collector K Ilambarthi appointed special teams consisting of several departmental heads to oversee the issuance of pensions and ration cards. As of now, the authorities have identified 15,000 beneficiaries in the Corporation limits. With more applications to pour in, he directed the officials to sort out the pending files related to Aasara and rations cards immediately besides receiving the new applications. It is learnt that the officials were told to complete the verification of applications before January 25.

He also directed the officials not to press for the Aadhaar cards while receiving applications. He also told them to give some respite to submit the required documents while receiving pleas from differently-abled persons. Rejected candidates should submit their application with the RDO for reconsideration, it is learnt.

Meanwhile, the District Collector has directed the heads of all departments to inform the district chief planning officer about the details of welfare programmes that are ready for launching or inauguration. It indicates that stage is set for the arrival of the CM very soon. Sources in the TRS said that the CM would inaugurate several welfare programmes in Pinapaka, Bhadrachalam and Kothagudem Assembly constituencies apart from Khammam city.

Meanwhile, Minister for Roads and Buildings Tummala Nageswara Rao would hold a review meeting with the district officials on Tuesday to prepare a road map for the Chief Minister's visit. As the CM is visiting the district first time after his induction into the state cabinet, Tummala has been taking special care for the success of CM's tour.
