Solar power: TS fixes Rs6.45 per unit

Hyderabad: Telangana government on Monday fixed benchmark price for the purchase of solar power at Rs 6.45 per unit. Reviewing progress in tender process for solar power with officials here, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao instructed the Energy department to finalise the bidders who quoted up to the bench mark price in a month.

Stating that the government invited tenders for purchase of 500 MW of solar power last year, he said the overwhelming response to the scheme form solar industry was an indication that the promotion of solar power generation would help to address the power crisis facing Telangana after the bifurcation of the State.
