Hyderabad: The city police made an early raid in the Aman Nagar area of old city and rescued around 200 child laborers.

According to the reports the children were brought from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, by paying off 20000 rupees to their families.

The children were being used for bangle-making and other hazardous works. They were exposed to chemicals and were forced to work for 14 hours in a day.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Zone), V. Satyanarayan said the children, mostly boys, are aged between 4-12 years and have been working here for last few months on a meagre wage of Rs 5,000 per month.

“The workshop owners paid a few thousand rupees as advance to their parents. After paying the money, children were brought to the city and were made to work in the factories,” DCP said.

Police was surprised to find that 30 children were crammed in one room. The rescued children were living in unhygienic condition and some even had untreated wounds. The owner did not provide them with clothing or bedding.
