Golconda Fort can withstand tremors
Following mild tremors in several parts of the city, denizens of Golconda region were apprehensive about the Golconda structure. However, according to a project by a PG student of International Institute of Information Technology-Hyderabad (IIIT-H), the fort is in perfect condition and such tremors would not affect the fort.

A case study was conducted by Vrushali Kamalakar, an MTech student of IIIT-H to compute the risk for heritage structures in seismic environment due to ground motions. The project was displayed at the 14th Research and Development Showcase of IIIT-H here on Saturday.
The Golconda Fort structure was studied taking the assumed parameters, said project mentor Prof Pradeep Kumar, Head of Earthquake Engineering Research Centre.He stated that the fort was in very good condition.
