Speaking at Republic Day celebrations, held at AVM School in Suryapet on Monday, Sharmila said YSR had inspired the people to serve the country. She also hoisted Tricolour Flag Singareddypalem also. The YSRCP leader, who has been on a visit to the district to console the families of those who died on hearing the sudden death of YSR in a helicopter crash, the YSRCP would always stand by the poor and help them.

She consoled the parents and brothers of a youth Damerla Lingaiah who died of heart attack on hearing the death of YSR. At Hanyanayak Tanda under Chivemla mandal, Sharmila consoled the family members of Banothu Mukhunda. She told Mukhund wife Lalu and her two sons and promise to help them whenever they were in need of aid.

She also consoled the family members of Narra Lachayya at Nasimpet under Atmakur S mandal. Lachayya, a senior citizen, was granted house under Indiramma Housing scheme and also old age pension when YSR was Chief Minister. The women at Kandgatla village welcomed Sharmila by drawing colourful rangoli all the way. A young couple, Varre Ramulu and his wife, appealed to Sharmila to christen their newborn baby.
