Karimnagar: Some ineligible persons are reportedly receiving certificates at Sadarem (Software for Assessment of Disabled for Access Rehabilitation and Empowerment) camps which are being conducted here from January 29. The camps are being held to assess the level of disability of the physically challenged persons and to sanction pensions to them under the Aasara scheme.

The mediators are playing key role in issuing the certificates to the ineligible persons. These certificates have turned into a gift for the ineligible persons, as they will now get a monthly pension of Rs 1500.
As per the rules, the persons who are adjudged to be disabled above 40% will be issued the Sadarem certificates, and only those will receive the pension.

However, there have been reports that persons who are not eligible are being given certificates by the mediators after collecting bribes ranging from Rs. 5000 to Rs. 8000 from them.

The brokers are submitting fake identification certificates and helping the ineligible to get Sadarem certificates.

It is learnt that a majority of the ineligible persons who got the certificates by adopting the wrong methods were not educated persons.

They paid the money asked by the mediators by bringing loans from others. This is going on in several villages.

In a recent review meeting held on January 23, Manthini MLA Putta Madhu, Manakondur MLA Rasamai Bala Kishan and MLC Bhanu Prasad Rao were told by people that there was no transparency in issuing the certificates. Speaking to The Hans India, Putta Madhu said, "I lodged a complaint with DRDA officials on issuing of Sadarem certificates to ineligible persons in the beginning of this month.

In Gommalapalli village alone, 24 Sadarem certificates had been issued to those persons who are not eligible. I handed over the details of the ineligible who were issued certificates to the DRDA officials. But no remedial action was taken. So I raised the issue again during the recent review meeting."

District Collector Neethu Kumari Prasad ordered the officials to conduct an inquiry into the issue after coming to know that 18 Sadarem certificates were issued to ineligible persons in Gommalapalli village. According to sources, the Collector has decided to take necessary action in one or two days in this matter.
