Mahabubabad (Warangal): Swarna Jayanthi Express bound for Hazrat Nizamuddin from Visakhapatnam was halted for about half-an-hour as smoke emanated from a coach of the train when it was crossing Kesamudram railway station in Warangal district on Friday.

It was said that jamming of the break liners of S9 coach led to fire sparks and thick smoke. The alert passengers pulled the chain and stopped the train. After the railway workers carried out repair works, the train was allowed to move on.

In another incident at Dornakal, an auto-rickshaw carrying labourers turned turtle as the driver lost control over the vehicle at Khammam bypass road.

About 21 persons suffered injuries in the mishap. Swaroopa Rani, a 30-year-old woman, suffered serious injuries and she was shifted to Khammam district hospital. The others who suffered minor injuries were given treatment at the local government hospital.

The passengers in the vehicle belong to Golla Bazar in Dornal town and were going to attend employment guarantee works in a nearby village.
