Wide arrangements for Godavari Pushkaralu

Hyderabad: Endowments Minister Indrakaran Reddy on Monday said Godavari Pushkaralu will be held on par with that of ‘Kumbha Mela’ in Uttar Pradesh.

Addressing a media conference after the meeting of Cabinet Sub-Committee, Reddy said the government had accorded top priority to the festival to be conducted in a grand manner to reflect Telangana culture and traditions.

He also said tourists could avail the details of the festivities online through a special website to be launched soon.

Fool-proof arrangements were being made to provide all facilities and security to the tourists, who come from various nations and States, he said.

Vigilance wing had been asked to monitor the works relating to construction of 69 bathing ghats at various places for the tourists, he said.

Police control rooms will be set up at the main bathing ghats while a senior IAS officer will be appointed to supervise the festivities in five districts.

The State government would spend about Rs 450 crore for the Godavari Pushkaralu being organised after achieving statehood for Telangana, he said.

The State government would ask the Centre to provide some financial assistance for the purpose, he added.
