TRS resolves to remain dominant force in State, The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has drawn elaborate plans including large scale membership drive to transform it into a reckoning force in the newly born State.

Membership campaign from Feb 3 to 20

Hyderabad: The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has drawn elaborate plans including large scale membership drive to transform it into a reckoning force in the newly born State. Chief Minister and TRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao announced the related schedule and appealed to the party functionaries to prove their mettle by active participation in membership campaign.

With the approval of the party functionaries that attended the TRS meeting held at Komapally on Tuesday, Rao cancelled all the existing committees. He announced that ad-hoc steering committees for State-level, twin-cities and women had been constituted.

While Palla Rajeshwar Reddy would be heading the State-level steering committee that also has Rajaiah Yadav, Bonthu Rammohan, M Samuel among others as members, women committee would be headed by Tula Uma. The adhoc committee for twin-cities was not announced in view of competition between TRS old members and new entrants from TDP and other parties. It is learnt that Ministers Mahender Reddy, Talasani Srinivas Yadav among others sought representation for their followers in the committee and hence no consensus was achieved. It is likely to be constituted in the next few days.

The members of the ad-hoc committees would be available 24X7 at party office and they would be monitoring membership drive constituency-wise, Rao said. The membership drive should be completed between February 3 and 20 and the date would not be extended at any cost. Information about enrolment of new members should up uploaded onto a specially created website on day-to-day basis, Rao said. He fixed enrolment target of 25,000 members and 5000 active members from each constituency. Every party member would be given identity cards after the culmination of this whole exercise.

Rao further stated that elections to village, mandal/municipalities, district committees would be held in a month’s time from March 1 to April first week. Election to the post of president will be held on April 24 and a big public meeting, coinciding with TRS Formation Day, at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad on April 27, he said.
