National status to Pranahita, HC division on CM’s Delhi agenda

Hyderabad: With a big wish list, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is heading for Delhi on Thursday. The wish list includes special status to Telangana, national tag to the Pranahita project and bifurcation of High Court among other demands. During his 5-day stay in Delhi, KCR besides participating in the NITI Aayog meeting convened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 8, will meet eleven Union ministers to push for Telangana projects.

He is trying for an exclusive meeting with the Prime Minister, according to special representative of Telangana in Delhi S Venugopalachari. Speaking to The Hans India, Venugopalachari said that KCR would urge the Prime Minister to consider special status to Telangana. He would also make a strong plea to accord national status to the Pranahita-Chevella project.

The Pranahita project request assumes importance as the Centre has recently informed the TRS government that it would take a decision at a later stage as it does not want to rake up a fresh inter-state dispute between TS and AP. KCR will impress upon the Union government on the need for bifurcation of the High Court on a priority basis.

The other issues that the CM would take up are about setting up a steel plant at Bayyaram and devolution of funds under 13th Finance Commission. KCR’s meeting with Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharathi assumes importance as she had recently conveyed to the government that it would not be possible for her to attend the inauguration of Mission Kakatiya project as she was busy with budget session preparations.
