Auto drivers held a dharna at Transport Bhavan, Khairatabad, on Thursday demanding Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to fulfill the promises made to them at the time of elections last year. Mohd. Amanullah Khan, B Venkatesam and V Kiran, leaders of Auto Driver Unions JAC, said that until now only one promise i.e., exemption of MV Tax on autos has been fulfilled.

“The remaining promises such as stoppage of RTA and harassment by the cops, issue of driving licence without the class 8 pass condition, allotment of auto stands and provision of accident and health insurance schemes are yet to be fulfilled,” they said. A 15 member delegation presented a memorandum to transport commissioner Sandeep Kumar Sultania who promised to look into the issues. The delegation stressed upon the commissioner to cancel GO 108 empowering the RTA and Traffic Police to collect Rs 1,000 fine for each violation.
