Khammam: The nine-day Army Recruitment Rally that began at the Prakasam Stadium at Kothagudem in Khammam district on Wednesday has been receiving huge response from youths across the 10 districts of the State, especially from those residing in rural areas.

In all, 2,630 young men on Thursday, who have gone through the height and certificate verification successfully, took the running test. This test was conducted for the recruitment of Soldiers Tech/Nursing.

Out of those who took the running test, 541 participants made it to the next round. However, the officials sidelined about 100 youths, who failed in physical fitness test. The rest qualified for the medical test.

Of the 5,000 youths who had filed applications for the Soldiers Clerk posts, 1,982 candidates made it to the running test after they successfully completed the certification verification and the height test.

These candidates will take the running test on Friday. Meanwhile, the participants availed themselves of the free meals facility. Parliamentary Secretary (CMO) Jalagam Venkata Rao, who reviewed the arrangements right from the beginning, was instrumental in arranging the free meals to the candidates.

Kothagudem Revenue Divisional officer Amy Kumar, DSP B. Surender Rao and Municipal Chairperson Puli Geeta took measures to ensure smooth conduct of the Rally. Meanwhile, RDO Amay Kumar met Kothagudem railway station AO Venkata Ramana and urged him to add a couple of additional compartments to the Kakatiya, Singareni and Manuguru Express trains for the benefit of the candidates, who were heading to Kothagudem for the Army Rally.
