Karimnagar: Former Congress MP Ponnam Prabhakar on Tuesday said that the results of Delhi Assembly elections are a lesson to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The winning of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi Assembly elections with full majority leaving no space for any other party reflects the greatness of democracy in the country, he said.

Speaking to the media here, he said, "The Delhi elections are a lesson to the BJP. Actually it is not BJP, it is Modi's party. These elections are a referendum on the performance of Modi's government, the former MP said. Instead of serving the people of the nation, Modi was introducing meaningless schemes like Swachh Bharat, Zero balance Bank account 'Jan Dhan', which will not provide food and livelihood to people, he said.

Ponnam alleged that the BJP was dividing the people of India and creating a gap between different communities with the schemes like 'Ghar wapsi' and spreading propaganda that whoever was born in India are Hindus only. “Delhi people observe everything very closely since it is the national capital and the Centre functions from there. They came to know that Modi's government was making only false promises. So within nine months, the party which has secured absolute majority in Lok Sabha polls, has fallen drastically to a single digit in Delhi Assembly polls,” he said.
