Nizamabad: District Collector D Ronald Ross has directed the officials and staff of the Municipal Corporation to collect pending property taxes and water charges on a war-footing as the district administration was facing shortage of funds to take up developmental works and clearing pending bills.

Ronald Ross participated in a meeting at the Pragathi Bhavan here on Tuesday to discuss plan of action with the Municipal officials and engineers of R&B and TSTransco to develop Nizamabad city.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that as many as Rs 6.64 crore property taxes and water charges had piled up. “So far, the Municipal officials were able to collect Rs 54 lakh pending taxes,” he added. He asked the engineers to issue notices to those who failed to pay water charges. He also told the officials to disconnect water supply to those residents who defaulted on payment. He also reviewed the drinking water supply in the city with engineers. Engineers told the Collector that they were supplying drinking water from Ali Sagar reservoir.

While reviewing the progress of laying the underground drainage pipelines, the Collector told officials concerned to complete pending works as early as possible. He instructed the officials to submit report on 81 developmental works worth Rs 7.54 crore which were still pending. He asked the municipal officials to discuss with the local MLA and convene the standing committee meeting to take approval for various developmental works.
