This programme has already been implemented in Hyderabad, Gajwel, Siddipet and Nizamabad.

Poor weavers to get meals at 5

Sircilla: IT and Panchayat Raj Minister K Taraka Rama Rao issued instructions to the officials to provide meals under ‘Akshaya Patra’ scheme to the weavers in the town. The main aim of the ‘Akshaya Patra’ project is to provide hot and hygienic meals for the poor at Rs 5, offering 450 gm rice, 100 gm dal, 150 gm curry and a spoon of pickle. This programme has already been implemented in Hyderabad, Gajwel, Siddipet and Nizamabad.

Rama Rao asked the officials to take necessary steps for the implementation of the scheme. On his request, representatives of 'Hare Rama Hare Krishna’ organisation visited Sircilla to identify various locations. They identified Area Hospital and Sinare College for starting of the scheme.

This scheme will benefit the poor labours of weaving community and others, along with the patients who visit the hospital who are now spending Rs 50 in outside hotels for meals. Sri Rajahans Das, a representative of ‘Hare Rama Hare Krishna’ organisation said, “We are already providing meals under ‘Akshaya Patra’ scheme to around 6,000 people at various centres and under ‘Bhojan Mitra’ we are providing free lunch at some hospitals.”

He said, “On suggestions of Rama Rao and by the orders of Sathya Guruchandra of ‘Hare Rama Hare Krishna’ organisation, we decided to start the scheme in Sircilla. We are about to provide meals by the end of this month.”
