Sangareddy (Medak): The police have worked out a comprehensive plan to check the rise in bank robberies. The plan envisaged seeking cooperation from banking and financial institutions in working out a foolproof security system. The district police on Wednesday held a meeting with the officials of the banking and financial institutions.

Superintendent of Police B Sumathi appealed to the bankers and officials of the financial institutions to strictly follow measures listed in the Public Safety Act. She suggested that closed circuit TVs should be installed in all banks and financial institutions. Monitoring of activities in the banks would be organised in the centralised control room if all the banks installed CCTVs, she said.

Sumathi assured the bankers that a policeman would be deployed in every police station exclusively to monitor safety measures in each bank. She said the police would soon send a questionnaire to all the banks. After the bankers answered all the questions on safety measures taken, the police would study them and get back to them to plug the loopholes, if any. The bankers were asked to display “known criminals” in their premises.
