Warangal: The TPCC chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah has described the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao as the most ‘superstitious chief minister’ of the country. ‘The CM’s strange practices are annoying the people. KCR makes several twists and turns to reach his chamber after he enters the Secretariat gate’, the TPCC chief said while speaking to media persons in Hanamkonda on Monday.

  • Finds fault with CMs of both States for ‘street fights’

Moreover, KCR has been spending government money for fulfilling his religious vows and his beliefs. It was a bad practice and unprecedented one. All of us should condemn such things, Lakshmaiah said. Further, KCR has achieved the distinction of being the only CM who could go against the law by laying foundation stone for the construction of buildings on ‘Shikam lands’ on the tank bed, he said.

Lakshmaiah referring to the comments by PM Narendra Modi who told the states to re-think on promising free power, he demanded a clarification from TDP, BJP and TRS parties whether they agree with PM or not. Congress was the only party that promised free power and kept the promise.

During the party rule several power projects were commissioned in order to augment rural power supply. In recognition of such efforts the Central government presented award in power sector to State government. Lakshmaiah felt that ensuring good governance was not that easy. ‘One might make hundreds of promises during the polls. But it needs great commitment to fulfill them,’ he averred.

He found fault with both the Chief Ministers of AP and Telangana States for resorting to street fights. Unmindful of the procedures and provisions of AP Reorganisation Act, the CMs were trying to exploit sentiments of people, Lakshmaiah alleged. The Congress leader urged both the CMs to focus on ensuring uninterrupted power supply to farmers. After the TRS came to power, about 740 farmers committed suicides. Urgent measures were needed to prevent the suicides.

The TPCC chief asked the state government to build a memorial dedicating it to Telangana activist and freedom fighter Bhupathi Krishnamurthy. Former Mayor Errabelli Swarna, former MLA K Sridhar, district Congress president N Rajender Reddy, city wing president T Vidyasagar, senior leader Ghanta Narender Reddy, the TPCC media convener EV Srinivasa Rao and others were present.
