Hyderabad: Justice A Rajasekhara Reddy of the High Court at Hyderabad on Friday directed the Andhra Pradesh government to respond to a plea against the AP Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) Act, 2014. The judge was dealing with a writ petition filed by B Siva Rami Reddy and 31 other farmers of Mangalagiri and Tadepalli Mandals of Guntur district.

The petitioners complained that the government was not allowing them to raise crops in their lands as their lands were being acquired by the state government for the development of a new capital city. P Sudhakara Reddy, counsel for the petitioners, submitted to the court that the petitioners had refused to part with their land under the land pooling scheme.

He said the government had given them permission only to raise crops for this season and not the other seasons. D Srinivas Additional Advocate General, informed the court that the CRDA had extended the date till Feb 28 to receive objections from the locals and that the present petition was premature. The judge adjourned the matter to Monday.
