Hyderabad: Ten Left parties of the State on Friday staged a protest at the Government Chest Hospital against the Telangana government’s decision to shift the hospital to Ananthagiri, near Vikarabad. Leaders launched scathing attack on Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for his whimsical belief in Vaastu and for making poor people victims of his personal preferences, which they said was uncalled for in a democracy.

CPI (M) senior leader Sarampalli Malla Reddy and CPI State Council member D Sudhakar were among the leaders who took part in the protest. Malla Reddy alleged that KCR was working for the corporate interests and his decision on Chest hospital would lead to great hardships for the common people.

The CPI (M) leader demanded the State government to withdraw the decisions of shifting of Chest hospital and the state Secretariat. He warned that the Left parties would intensify their protests if the government was not ready to take back the decisions. CPI leader Sudhakar said all the parties in the State, except the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), were opposing the decisions. He expressed strong disapproval of squandering public money in this manner.

Left leaders reminded K Chandrashekar Rao that free medical treatment to the poor was one of his poll promises and his government was now working against this cause, they alleged. Police tried to disperse them off on the plea that their protest demonstration has no permission. However, Left leaders continued their dharna till afternoon on Friday.
