Nizamabad: Minister for Panchayat Raj and IT K Taraka Rama Rao laid foundation stone for construction of a link road in Bhiknoor mandal headquarters on Saturday. Construction of 27.40 km of link road would be taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 13.74 crore. He inaugurated gram panchayat building constructed at a cost of Rs 12 lakh in the mandal headquarters.

Taraka Rama Rao also laid foundation stone for taking up repair works of 13 blacktop roads for about 53.20 km at a cost of Rs 7.38 crore. Later, the Minister handed over a cheque for Rs 5 crore to the women of self-help groups (SHGs). The District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) sanctioned the amount to 200 SHGs for taking up self-employment works.

Earlier addressing the people in Bhiknoor town, the Minister said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had introduced several welfare schemes in a big way and implementing them without giving scope for error. He said that the TRS government had launched the ‘Aasara’ pension scheme to help elderly persons and widows.

“Pension amount was increased from Rs 200 to Rs 1,500 per month,” he added. The Minister said that the state government has released Rs 4,250 crore in the first phase towards crop-loan waiver scheme from the total amount of Rs 17,000 crore. Even the government also released Rs 480 crore towards input subsidy, he added.

Later, Taraka Rama Rao laid foundation stone for construction works of 9.7 km blacktop road at a cost of Rs 4.75 crore near Tekriyal village in Kamareddy mandal. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said “Bangaru Telangana” can be unveiled by the TRS government. He flayed the Congress party for taking credit of Telangana State formation.

Taraka Rama Rao lambasted TPCC president Ponnala Lakshmaiah for threatening to file cases against the Chief Minister. He said the Chief Minister had launched several welfare schemes for the benefit of people. He came down heavily on Congress leaders for trying to sabotage the progress of the State.

The Minister explained that the Chief Minister was making efforts to provide drinking water to every house in the State. “TRS government has launched the Mission Kakatiya for restoration of lakes and ponds in the state,” he added. He slammed the Congress leaders for misleading people. Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Zaheerabad MP B B Patil, Government Whip Gampa Govardhan, ZP chairman D Raju, MLAs Bajireddy Govardhan and Jeevan Reddy, Joint Collector A Ravinder Reddy and other officials were present.
