Major contenders for the seat -- BJP and TRS -- have announced their candidates and the Congress is expected to announce its nominee on Tuesday.

Warangal: Political activity has picked up momentum for the Khammam- Warangal-Nalgonda Graduates MLC constituency poll in the district as the last date for filing nominations is drawing to a close. Major contenders for the seat -- BJP and TRS -- have announced their candidates and the Congress is expected to announce its nominee on Tuesday.
While the TRS has announced the name of Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, the Congress is said to have chosen a television show presenter Ch Naveen, a native of Nalgonda district and popularly known as ‘Mallanna’ from Teenmaar Show. According to Congress sources, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah left for New Delhi on Monday to get the candidature of Naveen approved by the party high command.
Lakshmaiah has constituted a committee with 11 senior members for this, according to party media secretary EV Srinivasa Rao. The committee comprises district Congress president N Rajender Reddy, city wing president T Vidyasagar, MP Rapolu Ananda Bhaskar, DCCB chairman J Raghava Reddy, former minister Baswaraju Saraiah, former mayor Errabelli Swarna, former MP S Rajaiah, former minister G Vijayarama Rao, former MLA K Sridhar, senior leaders Enugala Venkatram Reddy and Mohammed Mahmood. Meanwhile, the BJP was the first to announce its candidate Errabelli Rammohan Rao who on Monday filed his nomination papers at Nalgonda.
Similarly, N Ramchandra Rao filed nomination for the Hyderabad-Ranga Reddy-Mahbubnagar Graduates constituency.
