Hyderabad: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are all set to give a tough fight to the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in the elections to Telangana Legislative Council from Warangal- Khammam-Nalgonda and Hyderabad-Ranga Reddy–Mahbubnagar graduate constituencies to be held on March 22.

Leaders of both the parties on Wednesday held a meeting to chalk out a strategy to win the election. In the ongoing poll campaign, the parties decided to highlight Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s failure in implementing the promises made during the election. They alleged that the RS promised to construct a two bed-room house to each homeless family, but no step had been taken to fulfil the promise for the last nine months.

Telangana TDP president L Ramana said the two parties would expose Chandrashekar Rao’s failures and his empty promises during the campaign. Graduates, who enrolled as voters in the election, would be contacted directly and explained that it was the need of the hour the TRS should be defeated in the election. He said the TRS candidates from Hyderabad constituency G Devi Prasad and Warangal constituency P Rajeshwar Reddy lost the moral right to seek votes.

BJP candidate N Ramchander Rao expressed confidence that voters would give a big mandate this time. Rao is testing waters for the third time from Hyderabad-Ranga Reddy and Mahbubnagar constituency. He said growing anti-incumbency against KCR government would help win the election comfortably.
