Parigi (Ranga Reddy): State Legislative Council member Narender Reddy said on Friday that the government would allocate special funds for ending drinking water scarcity in the district during this summer season.Speaking to press persons at the Mandal Parishad office here, he requested officials to take measures for ending drinking water shortage in the summer.

He said farmers in rural areas were more dependent on water for irrigation, than for meeting their drinking needs. The MLC stated the government had allocated Rs 300 crore to the district under the ‘Mission Kakatiya’ to remove silt from 555 tanks. Over 4.3 crore saplings would be distributed soon as part of the ‘Haritha Haram’ programme.
