Hyderabad: The Budget session of the State Assembly is likely to be extended till March 31 as against 27 of this month decided earlier. Responding to the persistent demand from the opposition parties, Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary hinted in the BAC meeting that the schedule for the ongoing session would be altered. It is proposed that holidays would be announced on March 28 and 29 and the house will function on March 30 and 31..

On the request of the opposition parties, the government also declared holiday on Sunday (earlier announced as a working day) in view of the International Women’ s Day. Finance Minister Eatala Rajendar, who attended the BAC meeting, said that he would present the budget on March 11 and the debate on the motion of thanks to the Governor’s address will take place on March 9 and 10. The Appropriation Bill would be presented in the house on March 26, he added.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao skipped the BAC meet. Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari, Legislative Affairs Minister T Harish Rao and Rajendar from the ruling party, M Bhatti Vikramarka and G Chinna Reddy from the Congress, E Dayakar Rao from TDP, Akbaruddin Owisi from AIMIM, K Lakshman from BJP and R Ravindra Kumar from CPI attended the BAC meeting.
