Says his soon-to-be launched Telangana Reddy Samithi (TRS) will fight the ruling TRS and the Opposition Congress

Hyderabad: Bringing the internal flickering in the party into fore, defiant Telangana Congress leader and Congress Legislature Party (CLP) deputy leader Komati Reddy Venkat Reddy on Friday made some startling statements minutes before the commencement of the joint session of the Telangana Assembly and Council. Venkat Reddy first announced that he would not attend the Governor’s address as a mark of protest against appointing his political rival N Uttam Kumar Reddy as Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief.

He said he could not work with leaders like Jana Reddy and Uttam and then told the media that he was even contemplating to float a new party TRS (Telangana Reddy Samithi) as an alternative to the Congress and to fight the TRS which had not been releasing funds for development of constituencies led by non-Congress MLAs. Reddy said he had sacrificed his ministerial post in the united AP for the cause of Telangana but no recognition was given to him after the formation of Telangana by the Congress.

He lamented that he was denied funds for the development of his constituency during the Congress regime and even now the TRS government was making him run from pillar to post for the release of funds to his constituency. He said the only way to revive his political career was to float a new party on his own and create an alternative for Congress and the ruling party before next elections. He exuded confidence that he would win at least 35 to 40 Assembly seats.

When the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) senior leader A Revanth Reddy came to the session, Komati Reddy invited the former to join his soon to-be launched party. In a quick response, the TDP leader suggested the TJAC chairman M Kodandaram should also be roped into the new party because the JAC leader was the victim of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s politics of deceit. Revanth also suggested that Kodandaram be made the chairman of the manifesto committee of the party.
