Addressing a huge gathering on the first day of the four-day State Conference here, Reddy charged the BJP-led NDA government with doling out largesse to corporate houses in the form of reduced taxes and incentives.

Addressing a huge gathering on the first day of the four-day State Conference here, Reddy charged the BJP-led NDA government with doling out largesse to corporate houses in the form of reduced taxes and incentives.

Stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had failed to ease the burden on debt-ridden farmers, he said that the Union Budget was devoid of any measures to alleviate the sufferings of the common man. Industrialisation alone was not the benchmark for development, he said, it was necessary to recognise the importance of agriculture sector and its fortification.

“The Communists lost their place and now have realised the need to be united to fight for the interests of the poor and deprived sections,” Reddy said, stating that the process of giving the proposal a serious thought had already begun. Stating that re-unification of Left parties was the need of the hour, he expressed confidence that a forward movement on this can be achieved in the interest of the nation and the poorer sections of the society.

National executive member K Narayana, who appealed to people to join the fight against communal forces and also governments which implement anti-people policies, termed the results of last general elections as an eye-opener. “Both CPI and CPI-M, in the last general elections, allied with the Congress and YSR Congress respectively in Khammam district.

This only favoured Congress and YSRC as they made merry winning four and three Assembly seats respectively,” he said. He said that AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and his counterpart in Telangana K Chandrashekar Rao did not do anything for the poor. Telangana State secretary Chada Venkat Reddy also spoke Earlier, the party leaders and activists took out a huge rally from Nayudupet to Sardar Patel Stadium.
