Hyderabad: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLAs on Monday staged a dharna at the entrance of the Assembly lobbies and raised slogans against the government in protest against their suspensions from the House by the ruling party.

TDP floor leader Errabelli Dayakar Rao, deputy leader Revanth Reddy and others squatted at entrance of the Assembly lobbies for about an hour. They were expelled from the House for not giving due respect to the National Anthem besides disrespecting the Governor during his speech.

It may be noted that the issue of not tendering an apology for dishonouring the National Anthem cost them the entire session. Earlier, during the floor leaders’ meeting held at the Speaker’s chambers, the TDP members failed to tender an apology as was suggested by other parties. While all others requested to excuse them if they tendered an apology, the MIM strongly pitched for their immediate suspension.
